"HONORED LIFE" Beef means:

Hawks Hunt Farm offers delicious, naturally raised beef from our Scottish Highland cattle.  This centuries old breed is famous for its exceptionally lean & tender beef with superb flavor. How good is it? Well, the Queen of England keeps a herd of Scottish Highlands for her own beef!

Red meat, such as beef, has gotten some bad press as people become increasingly (and correctly so!) concerned with the high fat & cholesterol levels in typical supermarket beef.  That's why we chose to raise Scottish Highlands, a breed known for lean but delicious beef. 

Also of great concern to many consumers are miserable conditions in which many beef cattle are raised, as well as the growth hormones & antibiotics and the bizarre "foods" (such as composted poultry litter!) used to push growth as quickly as possible. And consumers are right to be concerned. "You are what you eat!"

While we love good beef as much as anyone, we are unwilling to make animals miserable or use artificial means to push their growth beyond Nature's own schedule. Our "Honored Life" approach means that in every possible way, we give our cattle quality care, loving attention and above all, respect.  And that includes recognizing their social & emotional needs. One of our great pleasures is watching the cattle interact:  calves playing tag in the summer sun, sexy cows in heat teasing the bulls across a fence, mothers watching as our bull talks gently to a newborn.

Our cattle are raised humanely, without the use of antibiotics, chemical additives or growth hormones.  Through careful management & the use of sustainable agricultural practices, we are careful to care for the environment, wildlife & flora on our farms while raising healthy, happy cattle.

Hawks Hunt Farm "Honored Life" beef  is USDA inspected, and carefully aged to maximize flavor & tenderness. Our beef is available as:

• Side  This is half a beef carcass, which includes both the frontquarter & the hindquarter.  Weight - approximately 275-325 lbs.  This is the most economical way to buy beef if you have the freezer space.  $2.39/lb (hanging weight) plus cutting charges (you pay this directly to the butcher)
• Split Quarter  This is half the hindquarter, and half the frontquarter.  Weight - approximately 150 lbs. Contains an excellent variety of cuts ranging from T-bones to pot roasts. $2.49/lb (hanging weight) plus cutting charges (you pay this directly to the butcher)
• Retail  Individual cuts, prices vary according to cut.  This is the most expensive way to buy beef, but a great choice if you have limited freezer space or only wish to buy a small quantity.

Consider combining an order with your friends, family & neighbors to buy in larger quantity for the best price savings!

Hawks Hunt Farm "Honored Life" beef is available through Subscription Farming only. Limited availability, so make your reservations early to avoid being disappointed & forced to buy supermarket beef.  All orders must be picked up at the farm - we do not ship our meat!

Side & split quarters are cut to your specifications - i.e., if you prefer 2" thick steaks, that's what you'll get! All orders are wrapped, labeled, frozen & ready for your freezer.  Plan on allowing approximately 1 cu. ft per 5-6 lbs. of beef.
